Hello, I’m Craig.
Mid-30s from South Africa. Spending a year in Budapest to see more, do more and expose my two young kids to another way of life.
Social-first software entrepreneur and investor. Focused on early-stage scaling businesses hungry to make money, solve big problems and grow digital and physical tribes*. Particular emphasis on Africa where we have big problems to solve and a moat against USA and European businesses.
Former economist. Aspiring photographer.
Founder and co-founder of:
- Inqaku, software company helping FIFA registers Africa’s footballers to the clubs that develop player talent and get paid. Adding capacity and transparency to sport. Transforming amateur football clubs into sustainable small businesses. Because of Inqaku 2% of all football players with FIFA ID’s now come from South Africa.
- Namola, South Africa’s most used and trusted safety app. Unlocks communities to make families safer. One of South Africa’s most downloaded consumer apps across all categories. It saves people every day. My wife has Namola, which makes me feel better.
- AvoChoc, software that’s good for you. Software development house with customers around the world. Entry point for young developers looking to develop. Builds great software. Making the next generation of CTOs.
Other stuff:
- Serve on various boards in South Africa and Hungary.
- Few personal investments into game-changing tech.
- Employee 1 at Project Isizwe, a non-profit that provides affordable internet to the power (what use is accessible internet if people can’t afford it?)
- Run F5VC, which invests in ambitious, experienced and purpose-driven entrepreneurs.
- Formerly a sponsored whitewater kayaker. Represented South Africa three times. Used to get free stuff because I would paddle over waterfalls.
- Masters degree in economics from UCT.
